Their best on the Archive
This is their best show on the archive. Big time energy from the word go. LBV > Match, dope. Match explodes. Best Folsom Prison you'll ever hear, rips. Best Cybil Jean I've heard in a long time. Best Meatball they've ever played. New spacey park and builds into this sweet crashendo (sp?). HEY! > Hole is a serious RAWK SPACE journey. Sweet groove in HEY!, builds & builds into Hole which has become a monster. Huge spacy keys & distortion heavy jam which drops back into the groove of the song.
Only then do they cool off for a beautiful Sweet Marie with a huge, slow groove. Again, best version they've played. Its like a big GD Wharf Rat I think. 10 min plus. Epiphany is cool. Older tune they bust out sometimes. Rail Song is played in the fast tempo, more like a bluegrass song. Again, good. Older Now, rips. Energy off the hook. Same for Comin' For You. The energy is just there in a big way this night. Do not miss a beat, driving grooves. Can not listen without banging the hell out of the floor with yer foot.
First encore tune Wine is just like Cybil and Meatball for me in this show. New found energy here, plus its a bit extended and more playful. Best in a long time. Some new trippy parts here too. Just great hooks n grooves like the rest of the show. Quinn is another rare one. More on-fire guitar jams. 10 min plus.
